-
- I too am concerned that the understanding of OOP is going to be so distorted as
- Object Pascal and C++ become more widespread in their use. Read the cover copy
- on the Waite Group's C++ Primer for Sams, for example, and see that they say,
- in essence, "Don't worry about objects, they're just a fancy data structure."
- Sheesh.
-
- But I wouldn't be too worried that the Byte editors' confusion is symptomatic;
- they often don't get the concepts right, especially on new stuff where they
- hire freelancers whose only exposure to the products tends to come from the
- developers.
-
- I have found myself in using Borland's Object Pascal declaring all methods to
- be virtual, too. I wondered if I was just sick. Thanks for pointing out that
- I'm not!
