  13. I too am concerned that the understanding of OOP is going to be so distorted as
  14. Object Pascal and C++ become more widespread in their use.  Read the cover copy
  15. on the Waite Group's C++ Primer for Sams, for example, and see that they say,
  16. in essence, "Don't worry about objects, they're just a fancy data structure."
  17. Sheesh.

  19. But I wouldn't be too worried that the Byte editors' confusion is symptomatic;
  20. they often don't get the concepts right, especially on new stuff where they
  21. hire freelancers whose only exposure to the products tends to come from the
  22. developers.

  24. I have found myself in using Borland's Object Pascal declaring all methods to
  25. be virtual, too.  I wondered if I was just sick.  Thanks for pointing out that
  26. I'm not!
